Hints and Tips
When searching the web, use the most specific words possible
The fewer words you use in your search query, the more matches there will be. If you are just browsing and want to find a lot of sites on the same subject use only a few words.
The more words you use in your search query, the less matches there will be. If you want to find something specific use more words.
Very common words (such as 'the', 'a', 'for' etc) are generally ignored by search engines.
Helpful Features
Begin: You can begin your search by following the category links found on the homepage.
Refine: FindSpot helps you to refine your search by suggesting "Related Searches" on the side of each search results page.
Remember: If you don't have a lot of time to search now you can bookmark FindSpot for future use.
Searching for Images
FindSpot has a handy image search tool. Click the 'images' tab at the top of the page before doing a search to be shown pictures instead of text results.
Searching the world wide web
If you would like international results from any country, click 'Search the web' before clicking the form.
Leave the form set to 'pages from the UK' if you want only UK based results.
